Meet DTU Compute: Associate Professor Martin Skovgaard Andersen

At DTU Compute we have the lecture series called “Meet DTU Compute” with the intention of giving everybody an opportunity to hear the researchers from DTU Compute give friendly introductions to hot research topics.

The next Meet DTU Compute lecture will be given on April 27 at 13:00-14:00.

Speaker: Associate Professor Martin Skovgaard AndersenSection for Scientific Computing, DTU Compute

Title: Scalable Optimization: Opportunities and Challenges

Abstract: Optimization is a fundamental mathematical and computational tool in a wide range of application areas within science and engineering. The availability of high-quality software allows users to formulate and solve many optimization problems with ease and without extensive knowledge of the underlying algorithms. However, some problems require excessive computing resources, forcing the user to resort to simplified models and/or methods. Following a general introduction to optimization, this talk will focus on how mathematics, computer science, and statistics can be used to identify and exploit complex structure and enable the development of new, scalable computational methods for optimization.

Everybody is welcome to attend.

The talk will take place in ZOOM, here:
