Geometrical aspects of manifold learning

Georgios Arvanitidis: My main research interest lie in machine learning and how we can use geometry in oder to discover the underlying structure and model the constraints that are implied by the data.

In particular, my work is focused on manifolds that are learned by the data. Therefore, the idea is to generalise many concepts, which are straightforward in linear spaces, on manifolds. Efficient solutions enable many exciting applications in bioinformatics, computer vision, image processing, etc.
