To ensure responsible AI in Europe and the world, large testing facilities called TEFs launched this summer. Two key elements of this effort are present at this years Digital Tech Summit.

AI technology is progressing at a rapid pace. New milestones happen every day, and AI is increasingly becoming a part of everyday life for European citizens and its businesses. It is prudent, then, that the theme of this years Digital Tech Summit is "AI Transforming Business".

But how do we ensure this development happens in a responsible and safe way which align with the goals of our society - while business in this area thrive?

The answer is a € 220 million EU-initiative that establishes four permanent AI testing and experimentation facilities, called TEFs, in Europe – four consortia who celebrated a joint official launch in Copenhagen this June.

The CitCom.ai TEF will be present at this year’s Digital Tech Summit along with TEF DK the Danish association of businesses who provide the testing framework and facilities for AI and robotics in Denmark.

"If you are a company working in Europe, trying to get your AI products to market, the TEFs can help you document what your solutions actually do. We can also provide you with credibility because we help ensure your products are responsible and trustworthy."

On November 8, 13:30, Andreas Holbak Espersen, Digital Policy Director, Danish Industry and chairman of TEF DK Association will present the association and the Danish perspectives of CitCom.ai at the DTS main stage.

On November 9 13:30, Martin Brynskov, Senior Researcher, DTU Compute, Coordinator of Citcom.ai and vice-chairman of TEF DK will present the Citcom.ai initiative at the DTS main stage.

Martin Brynskov of DTU Compute explains the purpose of the TEFs like this: “If you are a company working in Europe, trying to get your AI products to market, the TEFs can help you document what your solutions actually do. We can also provide you with credibility because we help ensure your products are responsible and trustworthy,” he says.

One way to understand what the TEFs are, is to compare them with how we test other technologies.

Cars for example, are put through rigorous testing by EuroNCAP to ensure they live up to the safety standards set by the EU.

The TEFs are the same thing - just for AI. They are permanent facilities where companies can test their AI tech before they hit the marketplace or consumer.

Speaking on behalf of the TEF DK association, Andreas Holbak Espersen, chairman of TEF DK Association summarizes exactly what the services provide: “Our testing platform can help AI companies bring their product the last mile towards the market. And we can help them on compliance and on the needed documentation on the effectiveness of their new solutions,” he says.
