Facts

  • The European Study Group with Industry (ESGI) is a highly collaborative format that enables mathematicians and computational scientists to engage directly with industry partners.
  • ESGI began in 1968 in Oxford, and have since spread to many other countries. They have been held in Denmark since 1998.
  • Over the course of a week, academic researchers work in focused teams to develop innovative, research-based solutions to complex industrial problems.
  • Over the years, ESGI has contributed not just to the resolution of specific modelling and computational problems, but also indirectly to networking between industry and academia, and has served as a valuable training event for existing and upcoming applied mathematical researchers.
