New continuing education programme for high school teachers off to a strong start

Computational thinking is playing an increasingly important role in mathematics education. It is about modelling and analysing real-world problems using mathematics, so that they can be solved with well-chosen algorithms on a computer.

Last week, DTU Compute launched a brand-new continuing education programme, InterMat 2.0, with 30 high school teachers from 22 schools – mainly from Sjælland and Falster, but also a couple from Jylland.

Approximately half of the participants have received financial support for the course from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

The course is part of the InterMat collaboration with high schools and takes place at DTU in Kongens Lyngby in the autumn of 2025. The programme consists of five course days, each separated into three weeks, during which participants can apply specific teaching packages in their own classrooms.

We use the open-source programming language Python, starting entirely from scratch so that everyone can participate, and gradually building up skills over the five sessions.
