Abstract:
The ethical challenges of technology assessment – mostly overlooked or even neglected – is the research focus of Klavs Birkholm. This seminar will address some of the basic principles when making ethical judgments on new technologies. Since such problems can only be enlightened working with specific cases, a couple of examples from Big Data technology and business has been selected for the seminar.
Klavs is a well-known Danish public debater. He is currently (external) associate professor at Aalborg University in techno-anthropology and is former member of the Danish council on ethics. Recently he published the book “Efter Mennesket” (After Humans) on Human Enhancement- and Cyborg Ethics, and he has written a number of contributions on the philosophy of technology and its consequences.
