Software developed in KT-Consortium contributes to improving the sustainability of products and processes in industry. Fossil raw materials substituted for waste gas CO2 is one example of this.
Recently, polymer supplier Covestro has substituted fossil based raw materials previously used to manufacture polyols for the waste gas CO2. This is one example of how KT-Consortium members improve sustainability of their products and processes. Software developed in the consortium is part of the quest.
The ICAS software (Integrated Computer Aided System) is one of the main KT-Consortium deliverables. It combines computer-aided tools for modelling, simulation, property prediction, synthesis/design, control, and analysis into a single integrated system. For example, the functionality ProPred assists by predicting the properties of a new substance under consideration. In this way, developers may save time and costs by not synthesizing substances with suboptimal properties.
At the KT-Consortium Annual Meeting 2019, held at Marienlyst conference centre in Elsinore, 12-14 June, several industry representatives pointed to the value of ICAS in their quest for improved sustainability.
