All international applicants (see below for exemptions) need to be proficient in English, to follow an advanced education programme taught in English. This proficiency is most easily demonstrated by taking one of the tests below. DTU does not automatically receive test scores, therefore, please ensure that you request a paper copy of the result at the time of registration for the language test and make sure to upload it along with your application.

Note that IELTS, TOEFL, and Pearson tests are valid for two years. That means that it can be no older than two years on 5 July the year you apply for admission.
*Please note the language scores will ONLY be accepted, after DTU can verify them online. If you take the TOEFL test, please remember to give DTU's TOEFL code (1684) at the time of taking the test, to ensure that DTU can verify the scores online. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that DTU has access to the online score.
Grade requirement from 2020
From 2020 English B must be passed with a minimum grade of 3.0 (on the Danish grading scale).
Applicants who are exempt from submitting an English test are:
Applicants who have an upper secondary exam/high school exam from an English speaking country (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Scotland, or Ireland*)
*Please note that applicants with an upper secondary exam from all other countries (including African and Asian countries, where the language of tuition is/was English) have to submit a test.
Applicants with a Danish, Nordic, Duborg, A. P. Møller, International Baccalaureate (from the IB diploma programme) and European Baccalaureate (from the “ScholaEuropaea”) exam
The exam must have an English level the Danish Agency for Higher Education considers comparable to a Danish B level in English*.
*Please note that you still have to fulfil the 3.0 grade requirement for English.
