DTU Compute invites applications for an appointment as Research Assistant in AI Sound Processing.

DTU Compute is an internationally unique academic environment spanning the science disciplines mathematics, statistics and computer science. Further, DTU Compute is an engineering department covering informatics and communication technologies (ICT) in their broadest sense.

The aim of the new position is to expand the Section for Cognitive Systems’ research in machine learning methodology with application to sound and machine learning. 

The field of research resides in the cross section between software development and current machine learning AI research. The aim is to provide large-scale acquisition and analysis of sound using machine learning and modeling of user interaction. The research is carried out in a collaboration with Center for Macroecology, Evolution and Climate, Natural History Museum of Denmark, University of Copenhagen.

Responsibilities and tasks
Sound is all around us, yet the understanding of how this affects individual and collective behavior and experience is still inadequate. The position will address the possibility of answering research question in this domain by engaging many users in a large-scale sound acquisition and analysis platform to get richer sound data and interpretations in users’ daily life.

The research will focus on: 

  • Development of data acquisition backend;
  • Development of data acquisition frontend including user app;
  • Container based large scale data processing production setup;
  • Large scale analysis of sound and related information using machine learning and deep learning technologies;
  • Data-driven learning based models for user interaction.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a master’s degree in Software development or equivalent.

Further qualifications:  

  • Experience in machine learning methods and software implementation, preferably deep learning models and architectures;
  • Experience in full stack development and current container based solutions for   research purposes is necessary;
  • Experience with programming languages such as: python, go, f#, c#, Java, dart, objective-c, Swift, kotlin, jsx;
  • Experience with team based SW development and strict deadlines;
  • AwS setup skills appreciated:
  • Keen interest in AI setups, post processing of big data resources.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The position is full time (37 hours a week). The period of employment is 12 month starting as soon as possible, preferably 1 June 1 2018.
