The Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Compute) has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in the field of medical image registration. The position is part of a long-term collaboration with Harvard Medical School, and prolonged visits to Boston are therefore expected. The position is available from 1 January, 2018 or according to mutual agreement.

Responsibilities and tasks
The topic of this position is multi-modal image registration using probabilistic modeling, with primary application in radiation therapy planning. You will develop, implement, and evaluate novel registration methods with the aim to improve speed, accuracy, and robustness compared to the current state of the art in the field.

You are expected to participate in departmental teaching at all levels so you should value visionary and meaningful communication. The teaching will cover Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-level courses. Bachelor courses are taught in Danish, other courses in English. Non-Danish speakers are not disqualified for the role, but will be trained in Danish in order to participate in teaching on all levels.

Candidates should have a PhD degree in medical image computing or computer vision.

Further requirements for the position include: 

  • Prior experience - and a genuine interest - in probabilistic modeling and medical image analysis
  • Solid programming skills, in particular in Matlab and/or C++
  • Publications in medical image computing conferences and/or journals (e.g., MICCAI, ISBI, SPIE, TMI, MEDIA, NeuroImage)
  • Self-motivated

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The period of employment is 1.5 years.

This position is anchored at the DTU Lyngby Campus, but it is expected that a substantial amount of time (~ 6 months) will be spent in Boston, USA.
