DTU Alumni event: "Do we need a new learning concept?"

Abstract:

Everything is under constant change and everyone knows that the World is dynamic. Heraclitus of Ephesus (the famous Greek philosopher) said, “Everything is in flux…” in the sense of processes of changing. This also means that the most suitable at a general level is the most adaptable. DTU has chosen to be up front with learning and learning principles, which the overall intention is with learnT. At this event Professor Helle Rootzén will talk about the trends in e-learning and discuss what a new learning concept could be. As an example on how we use digital learning technology at DTU, Education Coordinator Karsten Schmidt will show you the introductory mathematics course which all new students attend.

DTU has just opened a new research and innovation centre - learnT DTU - Centre for Digital Learning Technology. The centre works together with other universities, with small start-ups and big companies, with organizations and with single people interested in our work. We believe that we need a new learning concept and we believe that we need to develop it together.

Are you wondering about future society and how technology will change learning? Would you like to know more about future learning technologies? Just a few years ago learning was listening to a lecture with a teacher. In the years to come learning will be so much more and we will use many different learning technologies - both physical and virtual. The new learning technologies provide important opportunities for making learning deeper, more individual, more innovative - and more fun - and will give more engaged students who learn faster and better.
