Reception in Honor of Docent Emeritus Knud J. Larsen

After a long and successful career, Prof. Knud J. Larsen became Professor (Docent) Emeritus at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in February 2018. Knud’s career also started at DTU where he received his master and PhD degrees within the area of information theory in 1973 and 1976. After working at Ericsson Signal Systems he returned as Assoc. Prof. in 1986 and became Docent at DTU in 1990. His research has focused on error-correcting coding, e.g. recognized as co-recipient of the IEEE Information Theory Society Paper Award. He has also contributed to and led several ESA projects on error-correcting coding, incl. the decoder design for the ESA Rosetta mission. Knud has contributed profoundly to teaching and the development of teaching programs at DTU over the years, not the least the international master program initiated at COM∙DTU and recognised by the DTU Award as International Person of the Year 2003.  

With this reception we wish to mark the career achievements of Docent emeritus Knud J. Larsen.
